The Office of Youth Ministry, along with the Office of Religious Education, will be presenting a class, “Catechetical Formation in Chaste Living” throughout the Archdiocese in January and February. This class is designed to aid catechists, youth ministry team members, school teachers, PCLs and YMLs who work with middle and high school age youth who may be challenged to answer questions concerning chastity. This class will follow the guidelines put forth by the USCCB’s document,Catechetical Formation in Chaste Living: Guidelines for Curriculum Design and Publication. This class will be offered:
- Thursday, January 26, 8:30-11:30am at St. Mary in Mobile
- Saturday, January 28, 9:30am-12:30pm at St. Mary in Mobile
- Friday, February 3, 6:00-9:00pm at St. Columba in Dothan
- Saturday, February 4, 9:30am-12:30pm at Holy Spirit in Montgomery
There will be no charge for this class. We will need an accurate RSVP though so that we can set up each facility. More information will be mailed to pastors, PCLs and YMLs in early January.
Mark your calendars for Saturday February 25th! OYM will be hosting a one-day Youth Rally open to all youth groups throughout the Archdiocese. Jesse Manibusan, a nationally known speaker, musician and composer, will be our featured guest. The rally will take place at Corpus Christi parish in Mobile beginning at 10:00am and concluding with Mass at 5:30pm. Join us for a full day of talks, fun and games, breakout sessions, Adoration, Reconciliation, Praise & Worship music, and Mass celebrated by Archbishop Rodi. The intent of this rally is to offer a lot of the actiivities of ACYC in a one-day format that is fairly inexpensive. The registration fee is $35 per person. We want to allow all of the youth groups from around the Archdiocese to be able to come together for a great day of faith and fun and to meet and interact with other Catholic teens. So mark your calendars. Keep checking back - more information to follow.
OYM will be hosting 3 SEARCH Retreats in 2012. The SEARCH Weekend is a Christian Life experience, peer guided and peer given by a group of young people from our archdiocese, along with adults from our Archdiocese. On a SEARCH Weekend there is sharing by the community members, songs, prayer, small group discussions, Eucharist, Reconciliation, quiet time and great fellowship between you and your "new" friends. The weekend begins on Friday evening and goes through Sunday afternoon.
SEARCH Retreats will be held at the following places and dates:
- St. Columba - Dothan - January 13-15, 2012
- Children's Harbor - just north of Montgomery - March 2-4, 2012
- Camp Dixie - Baldwin County near Lillian - March 16-18, 2012
